2 cool sites for Indian users

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

We in India have always felt frustrated with services like Google maps which don’t give driving directions for places here in India.

Here’s a cool service called MapmyIndia which gives you driving directions in some of the major cities in India.

Onyourmo is a location based service which gives you the nearest restaruants, bars, atms, cinemas around your area of interest.

Google’s Face Search

Friday, July 6th, 2007

Here’s a cool piece of info I came across today. As part of Google’s image search, they have an option to search for human faces within search results.

Try this on for size: First let’s search for London at Google’s image search:

http://images.google.com/images?q=london

now if you were actually looking for people called London, use add this to the end of the URL - &imgtype=face. Try it out

http://images.google.com/images?q=london&imgtype=face

Cool, ain’t it?

@ IIT Mumbai for the HCI Usability Course

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

I may be off the blog for two weeks while I’m attending a HCI usability course at IIT Mumbai. Not the best of times to head out to Mumbai - it’s the rainy season and the place is a mess.
